Phantom Glide Base Treatment

PHANTOM Glide base treatment is now available in our workshop for new skis, or you current set up. 

PHANTOM Glide is a base treatment for alpine skis, Nordic skis and snowboards.  It’s eco-friendly, consistent, long-lasting, and easy to maintain.  Unlike traditional wax, PHANTOM bonds to the base and doesn’t wear off, eliminating the need and complexity of regular waxing.  It contains no PFAS or fluorocarbons and is safe for you, and the environment.

How does it work?

PHANTOM Glide bonds to the base of your skis or snowboard using a UV-activated curing process.

Here's how it works:  

• 1. Application: PHANTOM Glide is applied to the base of your skis or snowboard in a liquid form. This allows it to bond to the base material, ensuring continued performance.
  
  
• 2. UV Activation: After application, the treatment is exposed to UV light, either using a PHANTOM Glide Curing Station (20 minutes) or natural sunlight (1 hour in direct, unobstructed sunlight, >7C / 45F / UV index of 4 or higher).  This UV exposure activates the bonding process, causing the treatment to fuse with the base material.     
  
  
• 3. Long-Lasting Bond: Once activated, PHANTOM Glide bonds with the base of your skis or snowboard. This bond is durable and resilient, meaning it won’t wear off like traditional wax.  
  
  
• 4. Enhanced Performance: The result is a base that offers superior glide performance across virtually all snow conditions without the need for regular reapplication. The treatment is designed to work in a wide range of temperatures and snow types, providing consistent, smooth rides.  
  
  
• 5. Environmentally Friendly: PHANTOM Glide eliminates the need for reapplying wax, which can introduce harmful or unnecessary chemicals into the environment. This makes it both a convenient and sustainable choice for eco-conscious riders.

Helping the environment:

PHANTOM GLIDE is non-toxic and permanently bonds to the ski base. Traditional style wax leaves damaging particles in the snow, these wash into the water table, causing harm to wildlife, plants and snowfall!

Why do I need it?

If you’ve ever felt stuck on flats, worked harder than your friends to keep up, or experienced drag in snow, or you’ve felt poor glide.  PHANTOM Glide keeps your skis or snowboard performing consistently across all snow conditions, so you can focus on skiing and riding, not on waxing.

• PHANTOM Glide helps prevent damaging base burn caused by the aggressive particles of artificial snow and ice.

Artificial Dry Ski Slope Benefits:

• PHANTOM Glide helps prevent damaging base burn caused by the friction heat build up of the dryslope plastic bristles. 
• PHANTOM Glide works as a base treatment for under the usual iron on dryslope hard waxes and will not be a substitute.
• Helps prolong the life of ski bases used on dryslope.

Racing FAQ's:

Q: Can PHANTOM Glide be used instead of race waxes?
A: We recommend using it as a base layer under race waxes.

Q: Will PHANTOM Glide be as fast as race waxes?
A: Temperature specific race waxes will still run quicker than PHANTOM but can be applied on top as usual.

Touring Skis FAQ's

Q: Does PHANTOM Glide damage the glue on ski skins?
A: The most common cause of ski skins stopping sticking to your ski is contaminants getting onto the glue, wax being one of the biggest culprits! PHANTOM Glide permanently bonds to the base so cannot leave any residue on the skins.

Q: Will PHANTOM Glide help in off-piste conditions?
A: Whilst touring you will come across a large variety of ski conditions from the top to the bottom of the mountain. The PHANTOM Glide treatment will allow you to keep sliding through powder, ice, slush or groomers.
