In 1981 an adventurer named Ron Gregg watched his partner get airlifted off a Denali glacier due to frostbite. The months he had spent planning this route were wasted; their trip ended with the failure of a simple pair of gaiters.
Rather than joining his partner on the helicopter, Ron made the descent down himself. Along the way he realised that he could fix the gear problem and devote his life to pursuing his passion for adventure.
Outdoor Research was built on the idea that life is an adventure, and the best gear makes it more fun. Although Ron has since died in an avalanche, his legacy remains at the companies core.
