Slytech's Slammer Pro Back Protector is a new addition to the series of Slytech back protectors. The Slammer Pro Ski Back Protector is designed to be as durable and wear resistant as possible, whilst still offering the amazing impact protection offered by the 2nd Skin back protector.
The Slammer Pro kevlar back protector uses the same high end performance technology as the Standard Slytech Ski Back Protectors but with the addition of an extremely tough and wear resistant Kevlar coating. This is a great addition to our biggest selling back protection, making it an ideal option if your using this back protector for other sports - whether it's motor biking, motor sports, mountain biking or anything else that you want to through at it, the Slytech Slammer Pro will protect you when you need it.
What is Slytech 2nd Skin?
Wait till you try this one on... the Slytech 2nd Skin back protector will give you one of the most comfortable yet high protection back protectors available on the market. With it's flexible memory foam that softens with the warmth of your back and then goes rigid on impact, this is one of the most user friendly, comfortable, but safe options around.
This line combines the protective capabilities, comfort and freedom of movement of the 2nd Skin material with the additional hardcore protection of Kevlar®. The fabric of the coating on the protectors is a combination of Kevlar® and Armortex® and works as a superior protective soft shield providing the best guard against cuts, perforation and abrasion much as it does in bulletproof vests, becoming extreme protection in extreme conditions, in the winter, as well as in the summer for any action sport requiring extra safety during practice. The Slammer Pro Series line features protectors for the back and upper and lower parts.
Slytech 2nd Skin Kevlar® back protector is the essential item of your protective gear in extreme dangerous conditions as it provides protection for the spine, the coccyx (tailbone) and the shoulder blades, All Slytech 2nd Skin back protectors are certified to the highest levels achievable in accordance with the European Standard EN 1621-1. Level 2 for the Standard version, and Level 1 for the Superlight version.
To keep the body completely free, flexible, and comfortable, there are no hard plastic components on the superior elastic material, manufactured to allow for maximum back support and the highest level of comfort and protection against abrasion, cuts and perforation. HOW TO WEAR
The length of the protected area can be adjusted by moving the tailbone protector up or down the back protector with the adjustable Velcro system.
You can also vary the position of the backprotector along your back simply by moving the belt up or down the back and tailbone protectors. The Velcro system holds them in the right position.
The shoulder straps come as standard inside the packaging and or optional to wear or not. You can wear them by simply removing the Velcro covers and attaching the straps in the right place. You can adjust the tension by simply pulling or releasing.
Make sure you do not leave the backprotector in the cold. Make sure not bend it when cold, since this may cause the internal structure to break.
The Slytech back Protector can be worn in many different ways - with straps, without starps, with straps crossed, all dependent on your size and use.
Make sure you always leave the backprotector in a warm place before you wear it and if you wear it when it is still cold make sure you give it enough time to warm before you start riding.
How did we get the back protector so safe and yet so comfortable?
It’s all in the material.

This memory foam’s internal microstructure with its extraordinary behaviour is the essence of SLYTECH’S 2nd SKIN protective and comfort characteristic.
Why is it so extraordinary? How does it work?
When cold, the protector is rigid. However, as you put it on and the PU memory-cell-foam warms up by your body temperature, it becomes extremely flexible and contours to your shape.

Why is it so extraordinary? How does it work?
When cold, the protector is rigid. However, as you put it on and the PU memory-cell-foam warms up by your body temperature, it becomes extremely flexible and contours to your shape.
When you take it off and it begins to cool, it returns to its original shape.
Besides the fact that the material contours to the shape of your body, something else amazing happens: the soft pliable material actually becomes the most effective shock absorber available in back protection.
When impact occurs, the PU memory-cell-foam acts as an outstanding progressive shock absorber and actually adapts itself intelligently to different forces and speeds. The shock absorption increases proportionally and the body is protected thoroughly at any impact level.
To understand this particular behaviour we need to look more closely at the way the material reacts to external stresses.
When pressure is slowly applied, the air inside the microstructure of the small bubbles is forced out of the micro-holes on the surface of the foam, you will find that if warm enough, it is extremely soft!
In contrast, when quick sharp pressure is applied (like a hammer blow), the force of contact traps the air within the material. The thickness, density, and most importantly the protective qualities of the padding are maintained.
In other words, the protector becomes rigid.
When you hold the protector in your hands and you try to punch it as hard as you can, the sharp noise of your impacting knuckles means that the protector became rigid!
Traditional protectors usually transfer all forces integrally into the body during low energy impacts. Yet, with the Slytech 2nd Skin protector, the shock absorption increases proportionally and the body is protected thoroughly at any impact level. This diagram represents the force transmitted through the protector and those perceived by the spine in a typical lab test simulating a very high impact crash.
On the X axis you have the time that elapses after a significant impact (which happens at point 0). The Y axis signifies the perceived forces on the body in Kilo Newton.
After impact, the diagram shows that right around 4 milliseconds, the perceived forces on someone wearing the traditional plastic protector (red line) will skyrocket into seriously dangerous territory. These types of forces are the kind that can break bones.
The reason it takes about 4 MS for those forces to be perceived is because of the padding that’s between the subject and the plastic piece. Once the padding is completely compressed (after 4MS), then the plastic is the only protection, and because plastic is rigid and hard, it offers no absorption of the forces. That explains the dangerous forces perceived by the subject.
The Slytech back protector on the other hand (green line), because it is made from PU memory-cell-foam, does not experience the same JOLT of forces. The memory cells absorb the forces smoothly and effectively dampen the forces so that they are less perceived by the subject, thereby avoiding more serious injury.
Comfort, flexibility, and protection have finally been combined.
Now during all riding conditions, the softness of Slytech 2nd Skin will allow the body to move and react free of constraints. It’s always-on protection.
