Brian Brackenridge was a merino sheep farmer, and he decided to make a prototype of a new thermal t-shirt and take it to a friend (Jeremy) who had just graduated with a marketing degree. Once Jeremy felt the softness of the fabric and new it could be thrown in the washing machine, he knew this product could be marketed well and there was a place in the thermal market for such unique products. Once the ground work was put it and the product was refined, people just needed to try on Icebreaker products once and never went back to the synthetic thermals, they loved the fact it was made by a natural sustainable source. Icebreakers products range from underwear, to mid-layers, to socks and accessories; each product stays true to Icebreakers belief that “nature is better than plastic”.
